Episode 10: Why So Many Spurgeon Biographies?

... and which ones should you start with?

It is stunning how many biographies there are of Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892). In fact, I wrote one myself recently. But why so many? I answer that here and also recommend more biographies of Spurgeon (while cautioning you on others).

Here are my favorite Spurgeon biographies:

  1. Spurgeon: A Biography by Arnold Dallimore.

  2. Living by Revealed Truth: The Life and Pastoral Theology of Charles Haddon Spurgeon by Tom Nettles

  3. Travel with CH Spurgeon: In the Footsteps of the Prince of Preachers by Clive Anderson

  4. Yours, till Heaven: The Untold Love Story of Charles and Susie Spurgeon by Ray Rhodes Jr.

  5. Spurgeon the Pastor: Recovering a Biblical and Theological Vision for Ministry by Geoffrey Chang.
